Lipa city is a city that is located in the province of Batangas in the Philippines. It is officially known as the City of Lipa. There are three primary cities in the province of Batangas amongst which Lipa is one. The other two are Tanauan and Batangas city. Lipa is located to the south of the country’s capital, Manila. Lipa has a population of around two hundred and fifty thousand. The name of the city was derived from a tree species belonging to the Urticaceae family, also called Lipa. The Fernando Air Base is also located in the proximity of the city making it important from a military and security poit of view as well. The mayor of the city is Meyardo A.
