Lipa city is a city that is located in the province of Batangas in the Philippines. It is officially known as the City of Lipa. There are three primary cities in the province of Batangas amongst which Lipa is one. The other two are Tanauan and Batangas city. Lipa is located to the south of the country’s capital, Manila. Lipa has a population of around two hundred and fifty thousand. The name of the city was derived from a tree species belonging to the Urticaceae family, also called Lipa. Moreover, Lipa is quite an important city of the Phillipines as it exerts its influence in the fields of religion, recreation, commerce, education and industry. The Fernando Air Base is also located in the proximity of the city making it important from a military and security poit of view as well. The mayor of the city is Meyardo A. Sabili and the vice mayor is Eric B. Africa.

Lipa is an important fishing area as a part of Taal lake and is located in the city. The city of Lipa is prone to natural disasters as it is located in a valley between mountains. The climate and weather of Lipa throughout the year is typically warm. However, there are some heavy rains and typhoons in the summer which makes the weather wet. Other than time, the weather generally remains dry.
